I tried this - it looked like it would do the trick but have tried so many other applications that seem, in demo format, to do something but don't quite make the grade in reality - I'll try a few other options before I come back to this one - thanks for the demo and the contact.

Took a look at it, but based on comments from others decided not to try it in fear of making things worse than they already were.

A very easy to use program. Although the disk I was trying to recover was beyond repair, the program confirmed the diagnosis.

Certain Seagates DO NOT WORK

I have a Gateway Tablet and the disk management does not work

It failed

I'm sorry to say, but on my windows Vista laptop the program detects a defect partition table but it stops at about 50% when I selected the auto-mode. In interactive mode it stops at the same point, probably when trying to repair things on the extended partition of the harddisk (C: and D: both 70GB). My laptop is an Acer.
Ther was no error message or help available.

Demo only!

This is misleading. It is not Freeware. It is in fact only a useless Demo - it does nothing useful. A waste of time to download.

A real life saver

This is the smallest partition recovery program I have ever used. It is very handy and useful when you are in real trouble. Though my problem turned out to be other than partition recovery, I am keeping it in my tool kit for use in an emergency situation. I have already recommended it to my friends. My thanks to the distributors and developers of this program - Surinder, New Delhi, India

Partition Recovery Bootable CD did not work

Partition Recovery Bootable CD did not work for me. My PC did not boot up, so I was not able to view or recover any partitions. My time was wasted, and i have to explore other options now.

Partition Recovery Bootable CD

It seems to be a good piece of software on startup. Having no success in trying to load my xp pro on my new laptop, i thought a good bootable CD would bring a possible solution. Mabe if this bootable cd would give an option to Fdisk and Format my partitions I may be able to say more? My problem could be a Sata driver circumstance, strange is my english xp pro doesn't succeed but a dutch xp home edition does more.

Did not solve my problem

During an erase of an almost new Maxtor 160 Gb drive the process was interrupted, and the drive seemed to have a corrupt partition table.

I tried numerous freeware programs to no avail, and decided to buy a professional program to try to recover the drive. The Partition Doctor could see the drive, but reported that it could not write to the drive.

I finally used some obscure free utility which diagnosed the drive as having an ATA Password lock. It seems that the drive firmware locks the drive via the ATA Password Lock feature when a secure erase is initiated. This has been incorporated in all drives for several years.

If the Partition Recovery software I purchased had just passed this one simple, crucial bit of information to me, it would have been worth the price I paid, and would have saved me a day of work. As it was, the software did not help at all, and I wasted my money.

After I discovered the reason for the drive failure, I restarted the erase, and let it finish, at which time the drive firmware unlocked the drive, and it was possible to format it and return it to service.

Wasn`t what I needed

I like the interface and the features. It is very easy to use and getting started. The only thing is that it wasn't what I needed it for. I needed to partition a HDD to C: which was not possible in the recovery boot CD

Having tried probably a dozen other utilities to try to recover a trashed disk I was pleasantly surprised that this demo version managed to return a result of all files recoverable where the other programs had returned a variety of faults from s.m.a.r.t. disk failure to disk unreadable, however I had to part with money in order to unlock the program. Then I became suspicious. How was it that this was the only program to recover all files when in actual fact I have now found that the electronic circuit board has failed?

This program may work for some but I'm not willing to part with hard earned cash unless a result is guaranteed.
